What is the U.S. Forest Service Feasibility Study?

In 2016, Town Council instructed staff to complete a feasibility study to better understand the USFS land exchange process and to identify whether certain areas on USFS lands could be considered for transfer to the town. The study was based on identifying sizeable areas in close proximity to Vail with slopes of less than 45%. Since receiving the feasibility study, the Vail Town Council was informed of the land exchange process and visited several areas of USFS land during a work session to discuss the feasibility of obtaining the land for deed restricted housing or similar community needs. No additional instruction was provided to staff and no further action has been taken to date. Source:
