The Town of Vail Finance Department is reminding businesses that all outstanding sales tax payments that had previously been deferred are due to the town by Thursday, Aug. 20. To help businesses recover from the initial economic impacts during the outset of the public health crisis, the Town Council authorized the ability for businesses to defer their 4% Town of Vail sales tax payments collected in the months of February through June. Businesses were still required to file monthly returns by their regular due dates, but payment of the tax was deferred to August.
For questions about sales tax payments, please email the Town of Vail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Penalties and interest will be charged on any payment received after the due date.
With expiration of the sales tax relief program, the Vail Town Council has authorized a new commercial rental relief program to continue to help the business community navigate current and future economic impacts associated with pandemic. This program will offer four months of rental assistance to eligible businesses. Applications will be available online Sept. 1. Details available here for the Commercial Rent Relief program.
