Construction Meetings

Weekly construction meetings are taking place every Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. on the ground level of the Lionshead Welcome Center until Nov. 12. Contractors working in the areas of the Vail Village and Lionshead core areas are asked to attend, provide updates, coordinate and communicate any impacts as it relates to construction activity within the right of way and to the general public; the pubic is invited to attend. Online Citizen Portal 

Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online citizen portal to submit applications for contractor registration and various construction-related permits. The portal, at also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning and Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood. Vail Village 

Vail Village Parking Structure Repairs
Beginning the week of Sept. 30 and continuing until complete, crews will be performing structural repairs on the third level, east end of the Vail Village parking structure. For the safety of the public and that of the workers, please respect all closures. Town of Vail contact is John King, 970-376-0949.

Plaza Lodge Exterior Improvements, 291 Bridge Street 
A single lane and sidewalk closure on upper Bridge Street is needed to allow staging of a man lift during daylight working hours. In addition, scaffolding will be installed on the west side of the building. Work includes new windows, doors, handrails, exterior lighting and painting of the building. Work is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed by Nov.  5. Contractor is Nedbo Construction, Mike Losey, 970-977-0329. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.

Mountain View Residence Phase II, 434 South Frontage Road East 
A 300-ton crane is staged in the parking lot for the installation of the steel portion of the project which is currently underway. All oversized trucks will be staged along the South Frontage Road east of the Ford Park entrance. The north side of the parking garage within the construction fence area is the staging area for trucks and material deliveries. General contractor is Shaw Builders LLC. Main Vail Roundabout, Holy Cross Energy Repairs
The excavation work at the Main Vail Roundabout is currently scheduled for Oct. 28 and will take roughly 5 to 7 days to complete.  Holy Cross Energy will be working to install new switch gear vaults within their utility easement; work includes pulling new cable and connecting as needed. This requires a single lane and sidewalk closure. Please exercise caution as you travel around them. Traffic control will be provided. Town of Vail Contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.

Slifer Square Water Feature Replacement
BrightView Land Development, Inc. is on site working to complete the existing water feature project in Slifer Square located between the Vail Village parking structure and the Covered Bridge. The work is required to eliminate the water leak and improve the safety of the water feature. The work is now scheduled for completion in fall 2019. The work zone will be expanded to close Meadow Drive to vehicles and the in-town bus route. The in-town bus will stop on the top deck of the Village Transportation Center. Ski and Snowboard Club Vail Redevelopment, 598 Vail Valley Drive 
Phase I of the project has received a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy; areas still under construction are contained within the construction fenced area. Site grading, cleanup and landscaping continues. This is a redevelopment of the Ski and Snowboard Vail site to include a private and public club and multi-family residential dwelling units. Vail Health Master Facility Plan, 180 S. Frontage Road 
Steel deliveries and concrete pours continue. Please exercise caution along South Frontage Road and West Meadow Drive. Phase II of the Master Facility Plan includes the tear-down and replacement of the current east wing administration building and garage, replacing it with a new parking garage and hospital building to house new emergency and imaging departments, as well as a new lobby, central plant, tenant space and material management department. All hospital services will remain open and fully functional throughout the construction. To access the Emergency Department, use Vail Road/West Meadow Drive. Hospital patients and visitors should park (valet parking only, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) in the hospital parking lot on West Meadow Drive. Patients and guests of the Medical Professional Building (US Bank) should park (valet parking, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the underground parking lot of the Medical Professional Building accessible by West Meadow Drive. Row House Units 9 & 10, 303 Gore Creek Drive
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the fall and winter months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Construction activity will be contained within property boundaries and construction fencing. Project consists of an interior and exterior remodel. Completion date is late spring 2020. Row House Units 11, 303 Gore Creek Drive
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the fall and winter months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Project consists of an interior/exterior remodel and addition. Project completion date has yet TBD. Contractor is SRE Building Associates, Casey Brune, 970-376-5568. Antlers at Vail, 680 Lionshead Place 
Work consists of remodel/addition to existing lobby (3rd floor) and an addition of a 4th floor to the lobby which will be offices and a conference room. A new elevator will be included in the addition that will extend from the lower level of parking to the 7th floor. Along with the existing conference room and existing accounting offices, these areas will be remodeled into a new condominium unit. The Antlers courtyard will be closed during construction. Battle Mountain/Lazier Parking Garage, 534 East Lionshead Cr. 
New proposed projects on the eastern and western portion of the lots are currently under design. Start date and General Contractors TBD. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677. 

Lionsquare Lodge South Interior Renovation, 660 Lionshead Place 
New driveway entrance to parking lot is open; work to remove old existing access is now underway. The project includes interior upgrades to the existing conference room, including new celling finishes, room dividers, lighting and interior trim and parking lot improvements. Contractor is R.A. Vail Timber Ridge Rockfall Mitigation Project, Lionsridge Loop
Rock mitigation work is ongoing; Lionsridge Loop Road will close numerous times during the course of project. The helicopter work is scheduled for the week of Oct. 29. Traffic control will be provided. Completion date is scheduled for Nov. 19. Detour will be via the North Frontage Road. Contractor is Rock Solid Solutions Corp. I-70 Vail Pass Wall Repairs
The Colorado Department of Transportation is making repairs to eight walls on Interstate 70 – one in West Vail and seven along Vail Pass. As of Sept. 15, retention wall repairs were 90 percent complete with seven of eight walls repaired. Overnight wall repairs and site cleanup will continue between milemarkers 182 to 183 and between milemarkers 186 to 187 through the end of September when the project will wrap up. Overnight work hours continue Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. and Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. Single lane closures on I-70 are expected between milemarkers 182 to 183 and between milemarkers 186 to 187. Delays may occur due to the need to merge motorists into one lane. For more information about the project, visit the project web page or call the project public information number at 970-445-2455.  

Bridge Road/Gore Creek Access and Bank Stabilization
The town has contracted with Diggin’ it Riverworks to install a watercraft put-in area just west of Bridge Road. The work will include a stone access area, short-term loading zone, a gravel trail, stream bank stabilization work and native plantings. Traffic control on Bighorn Road will be used during deliveries; otherwise all work should occur south of Bighorn Road. The contractor will work Monday-Saturday. Bridge Road Structure Over Gore Creek Replacement
The town has contracted with Kraemer North America to replace the existing Bridge Road Structure over Gore Creek. The new single span bridge will replace the existing triple culvert structure. Since July 8, Bridge Road has been closed at Bighorn Road and Lupine Drive to facilitate the bridge construction. Asphalt paving was scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26, weather dependent. Work remaining for the week of Oct. 28 includes guardrail installation, bridge painting and site clean up. Project completion is scheduled for Dec. 1, 2019. Red Sandstone Parking Garage, 551 North Frontage Road West
The parking structure levels 2 and 3 are closed for public use while ongoing punch list items are addressed. Level four is open only for school staff and teachers. Landscaping work continues. Solar Vail Apartments, 501 N. Frontage Road West 
Project is contained within the construction fence. The former employee housing located just east of the Vail Gymnastics Center is being replaced with a 4-story, 65-unit rental housing development by Sonnenalp Resorts.
