Due to the ever-changing landscape and continuing challenges due to the pandemic, the Town of Vail is now piloting a Remote Video Inspection program. 2021 Construction On Street Parking and Construction Staging
No on street parking or construction staging is allowed during the winter months to April 15. All contractors must remove or relocate any construction related items from the town right of way, 10 ft. away from the edge of asphalt. Contractors, please revisit erosion control and construction fencing and make any necessary repairs. Paid parking in the Vail Village and Lionshead Village parking structures coincides with ski season operations.
Construction Update Meetings
The construction meetings have been canceled until further notice. Contractors working in the areas of the Vail Village and Lionhead core areas will continue to communicate to the Public Works Department, providing updates and coordinating projects as it relates to construction activity within the right of way. COVID-19 Related Announcements
Vail Transit is operational with the modified winter schedule; face masks are required for drivers and all passengers and capacity is being limited to 20 riders max. Town of Vail offices are open for in-person services by appointment. Please conduct as much business online or by phone. Online Citizen Portal
Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online citizen portal to submit applications for contractor registration and various construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning and Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood. Here’s a recap of the various construction projects currently ongoing in Vail.
La Taberna Iberica Patio, 100 E. Meadow Drive Unit 15
Includes excavation and construction for new site wall and foundation stem walls. The purpose of the construction is to create a new patio dining area. Construction fencing has been erected to enclose the perimeter of the work area. Project start date was May 18; completion of work is late January 2021. Xcel Energy, Mill Creek Circle
Work is completed. Full mill and asphalt overlay is scheduled for spring 2021. Xcel Energy has contracted with Sitewise Corp to install a new main gas line between the properties of 304 Mill Creek and 345 Mill Creek Circle. Mountain View Residence Phase II, 434 South Frontage Road East
All construction activity is taking place behind the construction fence for the winter months. Sidewalk improvements within the right of way are complete for the fall season. Remaining improvements will be completed in the spring/summer of 2021. Work consists of a new heated walkway, interior and exterior framing, plumbing and fire sprinkler installation. The north side of the parking garage within the construction fence area is the staging area for trucks and material deliveries. General contractor is Shaw Builders LLC. Jim Heid, 970-904-5669. Vail Health Master Facility Plan, 180 S. Frontage Road
Vail Health has received a TCO (Temporary Certificate of Occupancy). The new main entrance to the hospital is now open, which is located along the South Frontage Road across the street from the Vail Municipal Building. Temporary signage has been installed at the Main Vail exit, south roundabout, directing vehicle traffic to the Vail Health facility. Hospital patients and visitors should now park in the new parking structure. Phase II of the Master Facility Plan included the tear-down and replacement of the current east wing administration building and garage, replacing it with a new parking garage and hospital building to house new emergency and imaging departments, as well as a new lobby, central plant, tenant space and material management department. Patients and guests of the Medical Professional Building should park (valet parking available, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the underground parking lot of the Medical Professional Building. Row House Unit 11, 303 Gore Creek Drive
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the fall and winter months; pending public way permit approval. Traffic control will be provided. Project consists of an interior/exterior remodel and addition. Project completion date has yet TBD. Contractor is SRE Building Associates, Casey Brune, 970-376-5568. There are no major construction projects in Lionshead.
Donovan Pavilion Addition, 1600 South Frontage Road
The Donovan Park restrooms will be closed starting Wednesday, Jan. 27 through Feb. 3. This is due to electrical work at the pavilion related to the renovation. The project consists of 700 sq. ft of new addition to the east side of the building to include kitchen improvements, new office space and re-locating the snowmelt boiler. Start date was Jan. 4 with completion scheduled for May 15, 2021. Xcel Energy, Bighorn Road
