Construction Update Meetings Return in the Spring of 2020

Contractors working in the areas of the Vail Village and Lionshead core areas during the winter months will be communicating to the Public Works Department providing updates as needed and coordinating and communicating any impacts as it relates to construction activity within the right of way. Online Citizen Portal 

Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online citizen portal to submit applications for contractor registration and various construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning and Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood. Here’s a recap of the various construction projects currently ongoing in Vail. 

Vail Village 

Remodel, New Art Gallery, 100 E. Meadow Dr. Unit 12
Remodel of existing space to include new storefront with ADA accessible access and interior improvements. Start date was Dec. 1; proposed completion date is early May 2020. Contractor is Nedbo Construction, Evan Gould, 970-977-0330. Town of Vail Contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677

Mountain View Residence Phase II, 434 South Frontage Road East 
A 300-ton crane is staged in the parking lot for the installation of the steel portion of the project which is currently underway. All oversized trucks will be staged along the South Frontage Road east of the Ford Park entrance. The north side of the parking garage within the construction fence area is the staging area for trucks and material deliveries. General contractor is Shaw Builders LLC. Jim Heid, 970-904-5669. Slifer Square Water Feature Replacement
BrightView Land Development, Inc. has substantially completed the work on the Slifer Square Fountain. The fountain will go into operation in May 2020. Minor site work and landscaping will occur at the same time. Town of Vail contact is Todd Oppenheimer, 970-479-2161.

Vail Health Master Facility Plan, 180 S. Frontage Road 
A single lane and sidewalk closure on West Meadow Drive is scheduled to occur twice a week only between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to allow the staging of semi-truck and trailers for the purpose of unloading steel to the project. The first two scheduled days are Monday, Feb. 24 and Tuesday, Feb. 25. Deliveries are pending weather and road conditions. Completion of the steel deliveries is scheduled for April 10. No use of right-of-way will be allowed on Fridays and weekends/holidays or during  special  events. Once the trucks are empty, they will be escorted out through the Dobson Ice Arena plaza. Traffic and pedestrian control will be provided. Please exercise caution along South Frontage Road and West Meadow Drive. Phase II of the Master Facility Plan includes the tear-down and replacement of the current east wing administration building and garage, replacing it with a new parking garage and hospital building to house new emergency and imaging departments, as well as a new lobby, central plant, tenant space and material management department. All hospital services will remain open and fully functional throughout the construction. To access the Emergency Department, use Vail Road/West Meadow Drive. Hospital patients and visitors should park (valet parking only, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) in the hospital parking lot on West Meadow Drive. Patients and guests of the Medical Professional Building should park (valet parking, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the underground parking lot of the Medical Professional Building accessible by West Meadow Drive. Row House Units 9 & 10, 303 Gore Creek Drive
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the winter months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Construction activity will be contained within property boundaries and construction fencing. Project consists of an interior and exterior remodel. Completion date is late spring 2020. Contractor is Beck Building, Gary Kendall, 720-202-5645. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.

Row House Units 11, 303 Gore Creek Drive
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the winter months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Project consists of an interior/exterior remodel and addition. Project completion date has yet TBD. Contractor is SRE Building Associates, Casey Brune, 970-376-5568. Lionshead

CenturyLink Utility Repairs, 300 E. Lionshead Circle 
CenturyLink has hired Pauley Construction to repair damaged underground phone lines near 300 E. Lionshead Circle. Repairs to the damaged lines began Feb. 3, completion date is  unknown as crews attempt to repair damaged phone lines without having to excavate. Work may require temporary traffic control along the South Frontage Road. Contractor is Pauley Construction, John Orr, 970-361-6834; Town of Vail Contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.
