Construction Update Meetings  

The Construction meetings have been canceled until further notice. Contractors working in the areas of the Vail Village and Lionshead core areas will continue to communicate to the Public Works Department, providing updates and coordinating projects as it relates to construction activity within the right of way. Online Citizen Portal

Customers of the Community Development Department have access to a 24/7 online citizen portal to submit applications for contractor registration and various construction-related permits. The portal, at http://vail.onlinegovt.com/ also accepts planning applications for review by the Design Review Board and Planning and Environmental Commission. In addition, residents can access the citizen portal to submit a code enforcement request or check to see the status of any permit activity in their neighborhood. Here’s a recap of the various construction projects currently ongoing in Vail.   

Vail Village 


La Taberna Iberica Patio, 100 E. Meadow Drive Unit 15
Includes excavation and construction for new site wall and foundation stem walls. The purpose of the construction is to create a new patio dining areaConstruction fencing will be erected to enclose the perimeter of the work area. Project start date was May 18; completion of work is mid-October. Contractor is Rocky Mountain Construction Group, Jonny Cohen, 970-471-9258. Slifer Building Re-roof Project, 230 Bridge Street 
Work consists of removing and installing new roof materials to the building. A small area of lower Bridge Street will be coned off on certain days to allow all overhead work to be completed; this is required for public safety Work start date was July 6, completion date is Sept4. Construction staging will be in the alley between the building and Mill Creek. Xcel Energy, Mill Creek Circle
Xcel Energy will be replacing approximately 900 lineal feet of steel gas main line that is damaged. Start date is TBD. Contractor is Sitewise Corp.  

Remodel, New Art Gallery, 100 E. Meadow Dr. Unit 12  
Remodel of existing space to include new storefront with ADA accessible access and interior improvements. Start date was Dec. 1; proposed completion date imid-October. Contractor is Nedbo Construction, Evan Gould, 970-977-0330. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.   

Mountain View Residence Phase II, 434 South Frontage Road East   
Work is currently contained within the construction fence. Construction activity includes interior and exterior framing, plumbing and fire sprinkler installation. The north side of the parking garage within the construction fence area is the staging area for trucks and material deliveries. General contractor is Shaw Builders LLC. Jim Heid, 970-904-5669. Vail Health Master Facility Plan, 180 S. Frontage Road  
Curb and gutter, and pedestrian walkway improvements along West Meadow Drive are scheduled to start on Sept. 8. This work will require a full sidewalk closurePedestrians will be rerouted to the south side of West Meadow Drive. Traffic control will be provided. Phase II of the Master Facility Plan includes the tear-down and replacement of the current east wing administration building and garage, replacing it with a new parking garage and hospital building to house new emergency and imaging departments, as well as a new lobby, central plant, tenant space and material management department. All hospital services will remain open and fully functional throughout the construction. To access the Emergency Department, use Vail Road/West Meadow Drive. Hospital patients and visitors should park (valet parking only, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) in the hospital parking lot on West Meadow Drive. Patients and guests of the Medical Professional Building should park (valet parking, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) in the underground parking lot of the Medical Professional Building accessible by West Meadow Drive. Row House Units 9 & 10, 303 Gore Creek Drive  
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the summer months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Construction activity will be contained within property boundaries and construction fencing. Project consists of an interior and exterior remodel. Completion date is summer 2020. Contractor is Beck Building, Gary Kendall, 720-202-5645. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.  

Row House Units 11, 303 Gore Creek Drive  
Single lane closures are scheduled for deliveries throughout the summer  months; pending public way permit approval, traffic control will be provided. Project consists of an interior/exterior remodel and addition. Project completion date has yet TBD. Contractor is SRE Building Associates, Casey Brune, 970-376-5568. Lionshead  

There are no updates for Lionshead. 

Outlying  

Xcel Energy, New Gas Main, Bighorn Road 
Xcel Energy has contracted with Sitewise Corporation to install 1,300 feet of gas main line on the westbound bike lane of Bighorn Road between Spruce Way and 3944 Bighorn Road. Work was scheduled to start on Aug. 17 and is to be completed by mid-September. When excavation work has been completed, disturbed area will be milled and a new 2 asphalt overlay will be installed. Traffic control will be provided. Bighorn Road will narrowed; please use caution in the work area. Contractor is Sitewise Corp. Jarrett Schaub, 303.430.1414. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677. 

Xcel Energy, Juniper Lane 
Xcel Energy has contracted with Sitewise Corp to excavate and install a new gas main on Juniper Lane from the intersection of Meadow Drive/Juniper Lane to the intersection of Main Gore Drive/Juniper Lane. Work is schedule to start on Aug. 31;completion is scheduled for Nov. 15. A full asphalt mill and overlay of Juniper Lane is required and scheduled pending weather conditions. Traffic control will be provided. Contractor is Sitewise Corp, Jarrett Schaub, 303-430-1414; Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677. 

Xcel Energy, Nugget Lane, East Vail 
Gas line work is complete and asphalt repairs are underwayMill and asphalt overlay is scheduled for mid-September. Traffic control will be provided. Access on Nugget Lane will be maintained to all residences. Contractor is Sitewise Corp, Contact is Jarrett Schaub, 303-430-1414. Town of Vail Contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4977. 

Bighorn Townhouses/Garage and Trash Enclosure, 4722 Meadow Lane 
Work consists of 7 new vehicle parking garages, additional parking spaces and a trash enclosure. Completion date is mid-November. Contractor is Rocky Mountain GC, LLCJason Herzog, 970-376-3884. Town of Vail contact is Leonard Sandoval, 970-390-4677.  

Stephens Park Play Area Renovation 
RA Nelson will be performing work to renovate the children’s play area at Stephens Park in the Intermountain Neighborhood. The play area will be fully closed during the work; however, all other park facilities will remain open. Construction access will be along the gravel road from Kinnikinnick Road. The project will be ongoing this summer. Town of Vail contact is Gregg Barrie, 970-390-3286. 

I-70 Vail East to West Resurfacing Project 
CDOT and contract partner Elam Construction have begun a resurfacing project on I-70 from mile marker 172 to 187 through Vail. The project has an anticipated completion date of October 2020. This project will include an asphalt overlay, maintenance repairs to several bridge-decks and installing guardrail that meet the new safety standard requirements. Additional work includes rumble strip installation, striping, drainage improvements, sign installation and erosion control. Motorists can expect east and westbound single lane closures, 10-15 minute delays and minor detours on the bike path.
