Vail Police to Host Catalytic Converter Theft Prevention Event May 8

With catalytic converter thefts on the rise locally and nationally, the Vail Police Department will be hosting a community event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at the Vail Mountain School parking lot in East Vail where free catalytic converter tracking kits will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.

Summer Parking Operations Begin May 28 in Vail Village, Lionshead; Includes Free Daytime Parking, Fee for Overnight Storage

The Town of Vail will transition to its summer parking operations in the Vail Village and Lionshead structures beginning Friday, May 28. The structures will continue to remain free for daytime parking with connecting free bus service to event venues, trailheads and activities throughout town, including express service to Ford Park. The summer operations will also include a $35 fee for vehicles stored overnight in the structures.

Vail Fire and Emergency Services will again provide a free curbside chipping service to assist property owners with defensible space on private property. The service will be available beginning Saturday, May 29 and will extend to Oct. 14.

Hard to Recycle Event takes Place May 14 in Vail

The Town of Vail’s biannual Hard to Recycle event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 14 at the Ford Park parking lot. The November event was cancelled due to increased cases of COVID-19. The spring event will be held in compliance with all public health guidelines. As such, participants will be asked to practice social distancing when possible and plan to wear a face covering when interacting with the staff and vendors.

Crack Sealing Streets in Vail Begins May 18; Work Requires Single Lane Street Closures

Beginning May 18, Superior Asphalt, Inc., will be crack sealing streets in Vail as part of the town’s capital street maintenance program. The $150,000 project will take approximately two weeks for completion and will progress from East Vail to West Vail.
