Police to Increase Traffic Enforcement to Address Safety, Citizen Concerns

The Vail Police Department is advising local motorists of its intent to increase traffic enforcement throughout Vail’s neighborhoods and major roadways effective immediately. The focus of the enforcement is to improve safety, increase traffic awareness and gain compliance.

The safety campaign is being enacted to address an increase in the number of citizen complaints related to speeding, stop sign violations and other traffic infractions. During the last two years, over 750 vehicle crashes were documented in town.

Patrol officers will be using a combination of radar trailers, radar and laser speed measuring devices and routine patrols to perform the traffic enforcement operations.  A typical moving violation citation has a fine of $90 and four points.

For more information, or to suggest an enforcement location, contact Commander Ryan Kenney at 970-477-3433 or RKenney@vailgov.com.
