The Vail Parking & Transportation Task Force is being reinstated by the Vail Town Council to provide advisory input and recommendations on parking, transit and traffic operations. Applications are due no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 14.
The Town of Vail has transitioned to its winter snow removal operations. As such, no on-street parking will be available within the town from Nov. 14 through April 23. Nominations for the 2017 Vail Trailblazer Award are being accepted by the Vail Town Clerk’s Office through Dec. 15. The award was created to coincide with the town’s 50th birthday celebration and will be presented annually by the Vail Town Council to recognize an individual, couple or team that exemplifies the spirit and fortitude in making Vail a great community through one or more actions that make a lasting impact.
This season, the Town of Vail parking enforcement team is hoping to quash a long standing complaint about cars parking over the lines in the Vail Village parking structure, thereby freeing up additional parking spaces. In the past, these double-space infractions occurred largely unintentionally when the painted lines would wear off, making it difficult to locate each parking stall. Of course, other instances were deliberate, due to the size of the car or other circumstances.
With the start of paid parking for the start of the 2016-17 ski and snowboard season, motorists are advised to take note of another parking-related matter. New parking fines in Vail have become effective.
